Before the world broke, 4 oaths were sworn on a single altar, and the altar survived what the world did not. The Molten Dominion swore to burn cleanly. The Glacial Covenant swore to remember every wrong. The Sunscar Empire swore to endure beyond the sun itself. The Verdant Accord swore nothing it could not hide.

Each faction believes the oaths protect them. Each believes the others broke theirs first. The altar is still there, somewhere beneath the Capital City, and no one agrees whether it is the source of the Neon Veins or merely a witness to them.
